Participate through UW-Madison IAP
UW-Madison students can join Sage Corps through International Academic Programs, combining an international internship with university credit and access to UW study abroad resources.

Submit the UW–Madison IAP application for your preferred program location.

Apply to Sage Corps
Complete the Sage Corps application and interview process.

Students participating through IAP complete IS-523: Culture & the Global Workplace alongside their internship.
The online course complements the internship experience with reflection on culture, professional development, and working globally.

During the 8-week program, you’ll work full-time with a startup, contributing to real projects and gaining hands-on professional experience.
Sage Corps matches students with startups based on skills, experience, interests, and host company needs. Startup environments are fast-moving and collaborative, so students should be ready to contribute across projects and take on new challenges.
Specific companies, roles, and projects are not guaranteed.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to apply to both Sage Corps and UW-Madison IAP?
Yes. Students participating through IAP must complete both the Sage Corps application process and the appropriate UW–Madison IAP application.
Can students from any major apply?
Sage Corps welcomes students from a wide variety of academic backgrounds. Students participating through IAP must also meet UW-Madison’s eligibility requirements.
What funding is available?
UW–Madison offers study abroad scholarships and other funding resources. Eligibility varies, so students should review current guidance through IAP.
Can I participate in Sage Corps without going through IAP?
UW-Madison students are encouraged to apply to one of the four approved locations. Students may be eligible to participate independently of UW-Madison by applying and enrolling directly with Sage Corps if they are interested in a non-approved location. Students who participate independently do not receive UW-Madison credit, and are not eligible for UW-Madison funding.
Am I guaranteed my preferred internship role?
All students are guaranteed an internship, however, we do not guarantee your preferred role. Internship matching considers your skills, experience, interests and startup needs. Specific roles, companies, and projects cannot be guaranteed. You’ll work closely with your program manager to match you with your startup internship.
